Approximately 93 kilometers from themunicipality of northeast Thailand's Udon Thani province, at the borders of tambon Ban Muang, Wangthong and Ban Chan, in Ban Dung district, is a place known among locals as the sacred site of Khamchanot.In the northeastern dialect, `kham'means water source, and 'chanot' refers to a tree of mixed species. That is to say it has the trunk of a coconut tree with palm-like leaves and betel nut-like fruit.
