THE STREAM OF CHALLENGE, MAE SURIN WATERFALL
Located in Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son, Mae Surin Waterfall is dubbed as one of Thai land's highest one-tier waterfalls. Surrounded by steep mountains, the waterfall has strong flow falling down from the cliff to the lower valley, high approximately 80 meters, all the year from the headspring at Mae Surin brook. In the beginning of Muter, during November - December, the waterfall is beautiful and lively with wild floras. As it is the one-tier waterfall where the long stream has been flowing down to the lower valley which is the abundant tropical rain forest, its lower area is full of big rocks covered by verdant moss all around.
Those who love challenging adventure could trek down to the waterfall in the lower valley, taking time approximately 2 hours. Along the journey, travelers, sometimes, have to climb the steep limestone mountain down to the big rock under the waterfall. Since the route is quite slippery, every step should be carefully made.
To get there from Muang district of Mae Hong Son, visitors can drive along the highway No.108 to Khun Yuam district, about 60 kilometers, then drive on about 40 kilometers to the Mae Surin Waterfall, where accommodation service and camping area are available.
